Video『Strolling Through Hydrangeas at Shououji Yokocho | Okazaki City, Aichi, Japan』(2024)

In Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, there is an alley that feels like a journey back in time to the Showa era. This place is “Shououji Yokocho.”

Named after Shououji Temple, the alley features a 40-meter long wooden arcade over the temple’s approach, surrounded by densely packed houses.

This nostalgic space, reminiscent of the Showa period, is lined with cafes, shops, and more. Shououji Temple was established in 1560 by Tokugawa Ieyasu in honor of his father, Hirotada.

The video was taken on June 2nd, 2024.
