It’s December now,
and what I’ve done this month
is simply compliment a girl
who cut her hair into a short style.
But I’m happy, you know.
Like this, I grip the wheel,
with no particular destination,
just driving, letting the car move forward.
For example, there’s this bridge.
I find myself staring at the Blue Bridge.
The glowing blue railing draws a smooth curve,
and I see the cityscape from the bridge,
the windows of old houses shimmering along the seaside…
But in my eyes,
that light seems to waver a little.
I take the camera in my hand,
gently release my foot from the accelerator,
and press the shutter.
The noise of the road fades away,
and only the sound of waves
seems to drift from somewhere far off.
I wish that moment,
that time,
could last forever.
